Quick launch bar dissaperaing

When you put the quick launch bar at the top (or bottom) of the screen and have it "snapped" to the edge is there anyway of ALWAYS showing it even if you hit the "Show desktop" icon? I have already selected "Always on top" but that doesn't help. Is there some other app that could do this. It's really annoying that the bar always dissapears when you want to minimize all the windows.
