Quick KT266a question..

I've got an Athlon XP 1800+ (Tbred rev. B) running on an ECS K7AMA3 (KT266a chipset). I'm planning to replace the 1800+ with the highest possible processor that the board can handle. I've checked the FSB settings of the board and I found out that it can go as high as 165MHZ only (so I guess the 333MHz FSB XPs are out).

My question is: what is the highest Athlon XP that the board can accomodate - 2400+ or the 2600+ (I'm not really sure which one of these will work on my board)?

Thanks!! 🙂

you have to go to ECS and check this board, may be there is a Bios upgrade, 2600+ has big cache, happens the same with my Soltek Kt266a the board only take Palominos no Tbred.

The 266 FSB 2600 should work but it can be tough to find. Same cache as all other Tbreds\Palominos. The 2500, 2800, 3000, and 3200 are Bartons with 512 cache. The multiplier should be unlocked on the 2400 Tbred B, and you should be able to ratchet it up without problems.

That'll be a 2400+ for you then. Check the CPU compatibility chart on www.ecs.com.tw, but remember that 2600+ is no longer available in the 133 MHz bus flavor you'd need.
