Quick iPOD question about random play

Won an iPOD mini this weekend. I've been having fun playing with it so far.

Is there a way to shuffle play the entire catalog instead of just tracks within an album or albums within an artist? I'm guessing I might have to make a playlist with every song in it so that I can shuffle that?

I concur. Sell it for boocoo $, then buy one of the larger-capacity non-Apple branded ones that are as good or better.

I have no reason to sell it. I won the thing and I don't need anything 'better.' I plan to use this while I mow the yard and on car trips. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

The latest iPod software update from Apple adds the Shuffle Songs feature, which does exactly what you're looking for.

I just go into settings, then choose "shuffle --> songs".

Then go to browse--->artists---->all songs.

Shuffle away.

I bought a Mini back in May and it had a shuffle function then.

In the couple minutes I was messing with it, I couldn't seem to figure out how to shuffle all the songs. It was either shuffling within an album or within an artist. Maybe I just missed the BROWSE -> xxx -> ALL SONGS option.

ipod 2nd generation has that as well

this has always been in the 3rd gens and newer. dunno about the older ones, but i don't think it wouldn't be.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I only looked at it for a minute or two last night after loading some songs. I'll try again after work.
