thanks!!! the cd-rom is being flaky... about that dos setup. i once read here in the forums that you could load dos and open a directory and a file and that will begin the setup process, what folder and file was it?

if you try to run setup.exe on the win2k disc after booting off a win98 floppy disk, you shouldn't be able to

you either have to boot from the cd, make the 4 boot floppies, or perhaps do as others have suggested above

but it'd be quite interesting if you actually were able to!

goto your windows 2000 cd folder \bootdisk

run makeboot.exe to create the setup boot disks.

if you're going to make them in win nt, use makebt32.exe :)

You don't have to make the bootdiscs if you don't want to.

Do this -

Go to Bios and set your bootseek first device to CD ROM

then put in your win2k cd in

Save - Boot - Enjoy

This works for me.
