I'm trying to install SuSe linux over the net and it's asking for the ftp's IP address. How can I use the ftp:// address to get an IP address?

Good question. I was going to say "hover over the link" but obviously that won't help you.

When presented with this type of problem (i.e. trying to install "X" but I need "Y"), I just abort, get what I need, burn it to a CD or save on network drive and start over later.

Good luck to you. :)

Do you already know the domain name? Do you have an open terminal window with the ping command available? Just ping the domain.

if you are on windows do an nslookup on the server name.

Example:

c:\> nslookup ftp.hostname.com
