quick help: XAMPP wont start Apache on windows 7

so im trying to get apache and mysql to start, but apache refuses to, i installed everything but when i go to start apache, it says it has started, but doesnt show as running... nor can i get to my localhost/xampp and have it display anything...

specs: black macbook running windows 7

any suggestions?
