Quick help with Microsoft Word 2003

Hi folks.

I probably just pressed a button somewhere on my keyboard and now I can't figure out what happened in Microsoft Word 2003.

When I highlight words which I intend to overwrite with new words, the new words I type just end up immediately in front of the highlighted words, instead of overwriting them. This only happens in Microsoft Word 2003; not in other text-editable places like this text box for example.

I tried pressing the insert key but that does not seem to do the trick.

Thanks in advance.

Go up to the Tools menu, and then select Options. In the Options window that pops up, pick the tab labeled "Edit". There's a series of checkboxes in that tab, the first of which in the left column is "Typing replaces selection". I can almost guarantee you that this option isn't checked in your copy of Word. Click the box to put a check in it, and then click OK. Should take care of it for you.
