Getting ready to partition a system for multiple OS: Win2k Pro, Win2k Server, WinXP, and later on a flavor of Linux.

Drive is 18GB. Thinking about doing one big partition spanning the entire drive, then three logical 4GB NTFS partitions for the Windows OS's (have Partition Magic), and leaving the rest as unallocated space for the future.

Thanks

18gb ... hah ... winxp can take up 10 gigs no problem

Plus, if you make one huge logical partition ... then they'd be EXTENDED partitions ... whcih to my knowledge are NOT bootable ...

Make a 50mb dos partition ... then install system commander or somethin' ;)

I should do 10 gigs for XP? Are you sure? I'm not gonna install many apps.

So:

50GB Primary FAT partition,
Rest is one Big Extended partition: with logical partitons within

?

<< you can learn win2k with just server and the client with just xp. >>

Very well, but including Linux that would still be 3 partitions.

You can only boot primary partitions.
It could be 3 primaries, and 1 extended partition containing any number of logical drives.
WinXP in the 5+GB range.

As mentioned you could maybe try a small DOS partition for system files.
