rig:

Chaintech VN3-250 Nforce 3 250 motherboard
athlon 64 3400 newcastle
1gb mushkin ddr400 ram
seagate 120 gb sata II hd
Sapphire Radeon 9600xt video card
sb live audigy 2
Antec truepower 430

Installed winXP sp2, eveything runs fine, but when I excute the shutdown command it restarts.

Any ideas?🙂

It may be a driver problem - under Error Reporting's 'Startup and Recovery' tab, uncheck 'Automatically Restart'.. You will get the error message that is causing the computer to crash and re-start instead of shut down.

Here's the error # I got: 0x0000007f. I downloaded the windows based memtest and ran it to about 500% coverage with 0 errors.

Any ideas?

quick update:

I removed all the PCI cards, the SB Audigy and the Creative 56k modem and attempted to shutdown, still no luck. I then booted in safemode and attempted to shut down and it worked. So I guess this has to be a drive problem if in safemode it shutsdown right?
