What are Siths? I originally thought they were a race of people. I thought people like Darth Maul with the black face and red strips were Siths, but in Ep. 2 everyone with a Darth name is a Sith. WTH? Where'd the Darth name come from? Sith = Darth = Dark Side?

edit: fixed my bad spelling, thx LordMaul :D

they're an order of jedi who have been enticed by the dark side of the force. Theres quite a bit of info about them somewhere on the starwars web site. Sorry I coulden't be more specific.

Sith = someone who follows the ancient Sith order

dark jedi = any user of the dark side of the force who does NOT follow the ancient order

BTW, that would be, "Quick/General Star Wars question", not the above. :p

okay so I know what a Sith and a Dark Jedi is now. What is the difference between a Darth and a Lord?

Thats only partially true. In the current time period of the movies, there can be at MOST two. However, that is due to what happened before, namely the Sith war, during which time there was a horde of sith. :-D I'd give you dates but I'm not sure about the sith wars.

Hmm....I know the sith thing supposedly was for a "Dark Lord of the Sith", but not sure about the rest of it...

the sith were a race of magic users that a bunch of dark jedi set themselves up as gods for. they eventually became intermingled.

Ah yes, now I remember.

BTW, is any of this info in books? How about Exar Kun? Or is it only comics?

Exar Kun is mentioned/shows up (in spirit form) in the Jedi Acadamy Trilogy. He is the one that turns Kyp Durron to the Dark Side, "kill" Luke, steal the Sun Crusher, etc. I don't know if he actually shows up in any other books though.

I believe that Darth = Lord. Think of Maul from The Phantom Menace. He is called both Darth Maul and Lord Maul interchangeably. Same goes for Vader. He is called both Lord Vader (on several occasions) and Darth Vader.

No point in my answering the questions, since they've already been answered. But basically, a lot of this information comes from comic books, source books, the roleplaying games, etc. These things aren't talked about in the movie, so you basically have to go to other sources for information. I'm sure there are many websites with the complete history of the Sith on them, which would probably answer any other questions you might have.

Riiiight. I was just partially quoting Yoda at the end of Ep. 1 "Always two there are, no more, no less. A Master and an Apprentice." I know there can be more, but at the time period during Eps. 1 and 2, only two can exist, no more, no less.
