I just wanted to ask a question about formatting. not going to format anytime soon but just in case i do i wanted to ask you guys about it. I have one maxtor 120 gb hard drive that is divided into 2 partitions. one for my OS and programs and the other just as a storage place for videos and what not. I had tried formatting in the past and it messed up my drive paths. I wanted to know how i would go formatting just the boot partition without having to delete my videos and stuff. last time i did it the storage one turned into c: and the boot turned into d: after i just tried to reformat the boot partition.

if you format (format c:) just ensure that you're formatting the first partition on the drive, and your data is on the second partition

better yet, boot with the windows cd, and let it format for you.. just make sure you specify the correct partition. during setup it will tell you which partition is what drive letter

You can also just plug that drive into another machine and format it under windows.
