My bro gave me his old zip 100mb interal drive and have a dumb question;
After inserting a blank zip100 floppie, why doesn't the D** exterior button eject it ?? I have to right click it in explorer for the eject command and then it works. What gives with the button thing??

Thx
Pete

Sounds like you have a broken button. Mine always takes a little while to eject it (the light flashes for a second and then it pops out) but it does eject.

If your internal drive is anything like mine, the button is actually a piece of plastic that is about 2(~5cm) inches in length that extends back into the guts of the drive to a PCB mounted button. That piece of plastic could easily get dislodged from contact with the actual eletrical button inside. I found this out one day when I took the top off of the zip to clean the dust out of it. There isn't much to the drive really. Pop the top on it and make sure it is still lined up.

Actually for some reason the eject button decides when it wants to work and when it doesn't on my system. I just right click in my computer and select eject when it is cranky.
