Mainly looking at directron because they are local and i dont have to pay shipping.
ok some backround info

------

cpu, motherboard - a frys ecs deal, will pick whatever they have on sale this sat

case - so far this is the one i have my eyes on http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=0209-4HL
what do you guys think about the case

pc fans - it comes with one, and has slots for 2 upfront - im going to pick up 5 of these for $10 from directron

a chieftec/chenming dragon from svc or case-mod will do better for you in the long run. cases last a few upgrades. case your linked to doesn't show what the front mounts look like, doesn't look like theres any good front vent holes:p

using many fans is loud. best to get a rheostat/fanbus/fanspeed controller whatever u wanna call it. that way u can dial it down. i have the vantec nxp-201. some examples with fanbus:p well which case is new is obvious.

you don't need any fancy cpu cooler if you don't overclock, just check reviews to get a quiet one. led case fans on rheostat dim a little if you slow then down. if you want max brightness get uv reactive fans and get a uv cathode tube. otherwise a normal cathode is nice. i didn't install my cathode yet.

the problem with the chiefton cases is im cheap
im thinking about grabbin the lite on power supply so that shouldnt be an issue

the fan bus looks nice and is an interesting idea, i will look into it but i dont think sound will be an issue because i live upstairs in the house and there is an AC about 20 feet away thats pretty loud

whats the diff between a cold cathrode and a reg neon

5 of those NMBs will still be very quiet. You won't hear them from a few feet away. They also don't respond the best to low voltages, so you probably dont need a rheobus or anything like that. I have heard good things about Lite-On PSUs. I am sure it is better than the included PSU. For the $34 don't expect much. To get good airflow you will need to remove the stamped fan grills and add wire ones. Will you pick up the case as well, if not look into something at Directron, because shipping cases is usually $15 or so.

Not too expensive

those are not too bad but when you add shipping and a psu the price goes up considerable. my brothers psu died so i still need two - he has an 800 duron so i was going to give him the crappy one and grab a lite on

as far as the case i was hoping to grab either a newegg refurb (free shipping on case and cheap) or something cheap at directron

but niether are coming thru and im running out of time
any tips on the cpu fan - i dont plan on overclocking

The SLK3700 is only $69 at Directron with Antec 350W PSU. That is only $14 more than your previous combo and much higher quality.

that antec was available at amazon awhile back as a hot deal i will check and see if that price is still good

also i found this, directron has the same case but i dont have to pay shipping
http://www.directron.com/02094hl.html

the pic doesnt look as good and im going to stop buy and see it in public, that saves a good $10
any other cases i should be aware of at directron

Does Directron have a show room where you can see all of their cases? If so, why don't you just go look at them? Look for build quality (thickness of metal, no sharp edges, rattling parts), spaces for fans (check the grills for restriction unless you plan on removing them) and for whatever other criteria you may have.
