i placed a 90 dollar bid on this thing but it showed up as only 56 dollars in the bid history page. However, it says my maximum bid is 90 dollars. im really confused.

how can i get ride of this 'maxium bid' and just place a 90 dollar bid?
 
If someone else bids anywhere up to $89.99, eBay will automatically up your bid to beat it.

It's called proxy bidding and eBay does it automatically. $90 is your maximum bid, and eBay will automatically increase your bid amount up to $90 as more people outbid you.
