Quick dumb question about RAM

I'm ordering RAM for a PC2100 system and a PC2700 system.

If I buy PC3200 RAM (cheaper than 2100 or 2700) the 3200 is backwards compatible right? It will just run at 2700 or 2100 speeds, right?

Yeah, it should work. DDR is great in that sense.

I remember back in the day you couldn't put a PC133 stick in a computer that only supposed PC100.

What? that worked for me.

Hi, Another way of saying the same things you have already heard. All Memory, and chips for that matter, of the same specs except for speed were born equal. They are tested and then marked for speed determined by how fast they ran during the test. Most any mem or etc. will just run the speed your MB can run them if they are faster. Jim
