When parking up-hill which way do you turn the steering wheel toward?

Samething but which way going down-hill?

Thanks 😉 😉

[edit hours later:]
Just my fvckin luck! God damn it. We wait in the long ass line to get into the DMV outside and its chilly out there for atleast 15min. Go inside and wait in line for 5min. Hands the guy my fvcking permit and he enters it into the computer. Ok, good? Nope. it turns out the Drivers ed teacher (the one i drove around with for atleast 5 weeks) didnt enter my info into the computer when i completed it @ school. It takes atleast 5 week to get to springfield,Il and back to the scool and than to the DMV. Well, i finshed behind the wheel @ school way before school ended last year. Take it as i said.. (it takes 5week for the process) and remeber we just had summer which was 3 months... and now.. its been way past 5 weeks i say, do u? Now i have to go to school on monday and find the teacher and talk to him and than i have to wait another freaking 5 or so weeks. ;( no drivers licenses anytime soon ;(

You turn the front wheels so that if the car slips out of gear, it rolls against the curb and not into the street.......

from what I could gather from that ramble, it sounds like your drivers ed teacher screwed up, and screwed you as a result.

sucks.

sucks.

Basically.

well atleast i know
Up hill you turn the wheel towards the curve
and downhill u turn the steering wheel towards the drivers door. (left)

damn that sucks. you should go up to that teacher, and for penance, he/she/it should be your personal chauffeur for the next 5 weeks until you get the license.

not according to Allisolm's link:

When you park headed downhill, turn your front wheels into the curb or toward the side of the road. Set the parking brake.

When you park headed uphill, turn your front wheels away from the curb and let your vehicle roll back a few inches until the rear of one front wheel gently touches the curb. Then set the parking brake.

For either uphill or downhill parking, if there is no curb, turn the wheels toward the side of the road so the car will roll away from the center of the road if the brakes fail.

When parking up hill you turn your wheels towards the street. The best way to remember it is superman's little saying "up up and away" . lame i know, but thats waht my driving instructor said and it stuck.

that means downhill, you turn inwards. uphill, you turn outwards.

my ex-girlfriend STILL says "up up and away" every single time she parallel parks, and she's been driving for probably 8 years now..
