Quick case mod question

Sort of a case mod question here. I have a P4P800 Mobo and it comes with the firewire add on port. It's not a card just an internal port. Can I remove the PCI slot cover (that the port sits in), drill a hole in the top of my case and just screw the port to the front/top of my case for easy access. I'm tire of getting in behind my case every time I go to transfer DV. I was thinking that I might use rubber washers on both sides or even a rubber seal so as to be safe from shorting, etc. Anyone know if this will work ok? Thanks.

I think if your could make sure that the port had metal touching the chasis, just like your other pci ports that are being used, just to be on the safe side, that would be good

I don't know. Do you think it matters. I initially thought that this would *not* be a good idea. But I'm still not sure. I just thought of mobo standoffs and how you can short sometimes........

Any other dissenting/agreeing opinions?
