Quick Car Question: (not repair related;))

Alright, I was doing a bit of research and it seems the motor I plan on buying within the next month or so is 11:1 compression stock. Should this concern me at all since I can only get 91 octane at the pump here in Cali? I mean, I'm not worried about blowing up the engine but I assume the timing will retard itself and hence I won't realize the full power potential, correct? The engine in question btw is a JDM H22 (2.2L Honda 4-banger)

It should have a knock sensor that will retard the timing if premature combustion were to occur, however 91 octane should be sufficient to prevent that.

It could be right on the edge but the aluminum head is quite forgiving so the only way to truly know is testing....or find someone with experience using this engine on said gasoline.

100-octane gas is sold at the pump in Japan, cushioning the system against detonation much better than the 91-octane swill we have in California.

Well that's no good. 100 octane is about $5 a gallon.

trailer your car and get something more pedestrian to drive around. 😛

But you'll notice the stock Type-S engine is 11:1 which means it won't be a problem😎
