Quick camera question: what resolution?

So, I've been playing around for a while, and this camera is sweet! 🙂

What resolution do you recommend taking pics at? I've been going @ the best setting (2592x1944), however, I'm presuming that's a bit of overkill for everyday pics, though great for anything that I think I might ever make enlargements of.

What should I be using for normal use? 1600x1200?

I just bought that camera for my mom which she needed for her vacation. I'm so pissed now that dell selling it for a 100 bucks less then what I paid.🙁

always shoot at the largest you can, you can always make them smaller if you want, making them bigger hurts quality, and if you shoot at the biggest setting you will never be like damn i wish i had a bigger version of this for printing or whatever

i've left mine at the next to best setting, and i only print 4x6, a 5x7 at most. i might change it back to the huge one again though, i cleared a bunch of pics off my compact flash.

I always shoot at the largest frame/highest resolution. You can always make pics smaller, but you can't make them bigger with information that isn't there. It doesn't cost anything, either, so it's not like you're saving money taking pictures at a lower resolution.

When I eventually get the Canon 20D I will take full res pics just like everyone else? I can't see a good reason not to. A 1gb card is not much these days, and hard drives and such are big enough fo storage.

You got it, use it 😀
