Quick Blackberry question!

I'm just about to run out the door, but I'm looking for the answer to a few quick Blackberry questions before I go...

I know you can do email on it, but is it restricted in any way? i.e. what type of email accounts could you set up on it, etc.

Also, are you able to freely surf the internet on one? Or is email the only internet-related thing they're good for?

Thanks 🙂
edit: hopefully this topic is ok here 😕

Internet on a blackberry is slow. Like 56k speeds. Get a smartphone from Verizon and surf on Verizon broadband

EDIT: You can setup just about any email account to forward to your blackberry. I had my gmail forwarded to my 7100i.

I have a quick question too:

In Messages, I want to add a filter with a wildcard in it. Is this possible? And if it is, what character is the wildcard?

thanks for the replies. since you mentioned that Verizon phone, can anybody reccomend some other worthy competitors for the Blackberry that I could look into?

You can set up corporate email very easily if your company has a BES for you to register on. You can set up personal email using either a .forward (or equivalent) to your personal blackberry email (mine is something@mycingular.blackberry.net maybe) or using a pop autocheck every n minutes. I have mine set up to do work emails and a gmail account. The gmail forwards to my blackberry email and I have my blackberry set up so if I send a personal email from there, I choose the option for personal and it will look like it came from my gmail address.

You can surf the internet. It will pull up full version pages of many sites such as this one and sometimes it really sucks. This one as well as CNN are notable examples. The formatting is just really bad and you have to scroll down really far to get to content. However, some sites like ESPN have great formatting for mobile devices that make it very quick to find what you want. I have been able to view my gmail accounts as well as log in to my voip call log using the blackberry.
