lots of people seem to be in love with this game, so i thought i might try it.

ive got XP 1700+, 512mb, ti4400, this should be enough to run the game at 1024x768 at decent quality and fps, right?

im only on dialup, will that be ok to play online?

what "must have" downloads are there? i was looking at desert combat, looks cool, and the 1.31 patch.

thanks.

Your system will run it with NO problems. You don't need more ram unless you do more memory intensive things. You could get by just as easily with 256 as well.

For some reason, the game runs faster in higher resolutions for me. On my laptop, it crawled at 800x600 and 1024x768, but when I switched to 1400x1050, it ran much better.

Get cable if you plan on online play with ANY game... Youll never go back to 56k again

Looks good, get the patch and the D.C. mod and have fun. Try the original/non D.C. game too, the old planes aren't as fast but are fun for authenticity sake.

Actually... I know of some games you can get by on with 56k. Not FPS's by any means. Some games that are ok for 56kers (used to play most of these back when I had 56k) would be StarCraft, WarCraft III, and Diablo II. Having cable might make those games a bit better but you can still compete and play just fine on 56k.

Last time I tried running BF1942 (XP1800, 512MB DDR, Radeon 8500) it ran choppy. This was when it was first released. I sold it then and was wondering if they added some performance fixes, esp. to the close quarters combat aspect?
