I have a Gravis Gamepad Pro but it doesn't get recognized in a game, although it's correctly recognized in the Game Controllers panel. I think the gameport on my GTXP is a bit flacky so I wanna get a USB Pad.

I'm leaning towards the Logitech RumblePad, it got good reviews and also analog controls.

Well I don't like something "cordless". There's always a little lag compared to "wired" things 🙂

Yeah, its great, haven't had any problems yet. I just wish it wasn't blue, white/black would have been better...

Yes, they do. I'm using two of the original gameport versions on my XP Pro setup. Just make sure you set the joystick to "MS Sidewinder (auto-detect)" and it'll find everything.
