play a basketball game on playstation or something, much more gratifying, you can eat cheatos while you do it, wont get tired, and you can set the heat/ac to whatever makes you comfortable

its all practice. i currently suck cuz i havent played in 2 years, and just started playing about twice a week now. and i can see improvements just from me redoing everything i used to do.

these are the basic mechanics i was taught, real quick. if youre righty, right foot a little ahead of left. face up to the basket. when you bring the ball up, your right forearm (between wrist and elbow) should be vertical, and above your right knee. snap your wrist through the shot, you should feel your fingers leave the ball and give it a spin.

and of course coordinate with the rest of your body. it should be mostly legs.

Forearm completely vertical? That seems a bit odd. Good tips though.

The release is a crucial part...I like to think of it as the basket being a cookie jar. You shoot the ball and reach into the cookie jar. Avoid shooting and throwing your arms down or whatever...keep it in the air and make sure your wrist snaps. Treat the ball like it's a feather, don't try too hard.

Another tip: study the good shooters you see on TV and on the court. Everyone will look different, of course, but there is no one way to shoot the ball.
