Quick Aim related question

I bought a new HD, and am in the process of downloading stuff, migrating files over from the old one, etc. However, since I changed OSes, I didnt clone my old drive, and thus there are a few things I want to transfer. Like my away messages. Any idea where these are saved? I tried making a new one, making AIM save it, and searching my HD for the newest files, but that didnt work. Anyone know which files to transfer, or am I S.O.L.?

heh.. Do you have so many different away messages that it would take you more than 5 minutes to re-make them? 😛

C:\Documents and Settings\Brian\Application Data\Aim

is the primary one I know of.
(where "Brian" is replaced with your name.)

Save the folders that correspond with any screen names you use, and put them right back in the same place on the new install. AIM should take care of the rest.

I believe that away messages are saved to your registry, so unless you want to dig though that, don't count on saving those.

That is the dumbest thing I have EVER heard of a company doing with software...

After you remember that the people writing it were hired and directed by AOL, it makes sense that they would do that.

I just checked. They are, in fact, in the registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - America Online - AOL Instant Messenger (TM) - Current Version - Users - Your SN - Away

Great move on their part  Now I just need to remember how to pull up the registry file on a HD that is not my C: drive (mainly, WhereTF it is on a HD with WinME installed). Obviously, "regedit f:" isnt going to work out too well. That WinME install is fubared, so I cannot just boot, run regedit, and dump the data into a text file.

Edit: I may be overlooking something very obvious, but I'm tired and I know I'm not thinking very well right now.
