I currently have 3 windows 2003 domain controllers, we'll call them a,b,andc a is a global catalog that runs dns and wins and all fsmo's except infrastructure master, b is a global catalog only and c is a domain controller that has the infrastructure master roll without the global catalog. I currently have a windows 2000 server that is the secondary dns and wins as well as dhcp but it is not a domain controller.
I have to have dns server running on both of the global catalog servers right?
problem was I updated them to service pack 1, first I upgraded b rebooted it, the upgraded c then rebooted it, but when I upgraded a no one had access to any resources on the network until it came back up. (you could ping everything by name using the secondary dns server, you just couldn't access any shared files or printers)
Is the problem with resource assets just the dns issue or could anything else be happening?
b will soon be replacing the 2000 server for dns and wins, it was still needed as we are in the process of migrating from an nt4 domain to active directory.
