Quetion for Shaw Extreme-1 Package

I called customer service and they told me my bandwith limit would increase from 5gb to 7gb yet I use AT LEAST 15-20gb/month but I got warned last month when I downloaded around 40-50gb. I was wondering by upgrading to this package from my normal high-speed internet, would I notice a REAL bandwith increase (not a measly 2gb increase)? I was thinking they would probably be more lax with me on the limit if I was to pay $10 more for a better internet package with them, but I'm not sure.
