Queston about PCI-e port and vid card on my mobo

I have a DFI lanparty NF4 and it has 2 pci-e slots for video cards. Does it matter which one of these slots I plug the card into becuase I was not able to use the PCIE1 slot due to the fact that the motherboard's fan was being impeded by the end of the card.

Currently the card is installed in the PCIE3 slot and I was wondering if this would cause problems.

-Thanks

Yeah, it works, but I was just trying to find out if it was common for a vid card to bang against the motherboard fan in such a way and what is usually done about it. For example if I wanted to add a second vid card, would I remove the mobo fan or relocate it or what?

yes it does!

put it in the TOP slot, the one closer to the cpu

the TOP slot operates at x16, while the BOTTOM slot operates at x2

Thsi thread really helps me as there is a enw system in the mail on the way to me that uses PCIE.

Thanks again anandtech members..

Diablo, you seem to have the same motherboard as I do. Did your vid card impede the mobo fan from working? If so what did you do? Also, can you go into detail on how each slot operates independently.

I'm pretty sure both are x16, but if you put 2 together x8. Otherwise, SLI on this board is pointless.

nvm: it is 2x. Don't remember but how fast is 2x again? If its not slower than AGP 8/4x then there is no difference
