I made a thread about this in General Hardware and got no replies so I figured this might be a more appropriate place to ask.
I am pretty sure I understand the insallation of the NVSilencer 5 Rev 3 on my 7800GT, but that little barb thing that holds the power connector for the fan into the card is next to impossible to remove. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove this? The directions reccommend a needle but this just caused a bunch of headaches...
Also with the installtion of an XP-90 on and EPoX 9NPA+ Ultra, is it nessecary to remove the motherboard? I have heard that the mounting bracket that the XP-90 uses requires it to be screwed into the backplate, so do I have to take the entire motherboard out to get this thing on?
One last question regarding the removal of the stock heatsink; I have heard that it is best to use a hairdryer on the heatsink before you remove it to weaken the bond that the thermal paste has between the processor and the heatsink to prevent ripping the CPU out of the socket. Anyone tried this? I also found this movie with instructions on how to remove the heatsink, does this sound like it works? http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_ty...move-LowRes.wmv I noticed he removed the mounting bracket (or at least unscrewed it), wouldn't this cause the backplate to fall off?
Sorry for my stupid questions but any help would be great.
