My brother recently gave me his 64 meg mp3 player, so i was wondering how many songs i could fit on there. I've read that wma compresses pretty well, and it's small as well, but i'd like to find out more on this subject. Does anyone have any informative sites on this?

And, if say, i have a 192kbit mp3. I want to shrink the size, so i convert it back into a wav, then into a 128kbit mp3. Would that "converted" 128kbit mp3 sound crapppier than say, another freshly ripped 128kbit mp3 from that same cd?

Yes, for lossy compression it works better (sometimes much better) to always compress from the original.

Highly recommended. They'll take good care of you there.

Once you have an MP3 file, it's basically "done". If you want a smaller file and some semblence of quality, you need to re-rip and reencode.

i doubt you would notice the diff between 192 - wav - 128 than from original wav-128 straight on a small set of ear phones. dont bother with the hassle of the original rip just for this for random tracks.
