Questions regarding Junk E-Mails

I get about a dozen junk e-mails a day. I can't figure out why people are even sending me this garbage.

For example, a lot of them are about Viagra, but in the e-mail, the spelling is wrong and it looks like it was typed by a 4 year old.

Vi aGrA - Who the heck is going to send money to a company that can't spell or type ?

Also, a lot have something like this at the end:

evaporation the was defiant. investment
rent accurately, at bacteria a on
profane: was reelection jaws the eclipse evergreen today, with vegan sickle steady
redistribute. deer a hairdresser, grievous unbroken, wash a million or as
vary. with bag lady,! advertise in credit limit including an chrysanthemum was that
reverent, damsel homeopathic dysfunction arsenal, verb this embryo as decidedly
atlas axle millennia rugby taint grand prix midweek a sniff shamefully

What the heck is all that about ? Again, why would anyone send money to some place that sends giberish ?

I am not looking for help on how to block this junk. Just wondering why they do it and if they actually make money sending stuff like that to people. What a waste of bandwidth.

Spammers send it because:
1) Out of every few million e-mails they send out, some moron buys something, thus helping justify the continued deluge of e-mail
2) If you're good at spamming, you can make 6-digit income from home, and the only prices to pay are your self-respect, the fact that you're helping to cost industries millions of dollars in wasted time and bandwidth, and just pissing off millions of people.

They intentionally spell the key words wrong so that spam filters cannot catch the messages and automatically delete them. As others have said, just delete them. If you REALLY want to get rid of all of those messages, you'll either need to get a new email address, or set up your email server to block all messages from unknown sources.

Most people that get leached by spammers are not morons, just everyday people that try to enjoy computing but have less than basic skills (which comprises most of the population).

C'mon. No it doesn't. Morons are people who are inately stupid. Most of these people are not stupid, it's just that computing is not everything for them. I'm also nearly a licensed chiroprator (just about to be one) - if you don't understand the benefits of spinal care, or don't believe chiropratic care can help you, should i call you a moron because you start limping and walking funny by the age of 51?

Sorry, if you don't understand what spam is by now, then you're ignorant.....extremely ignorant. Then, if you're foolish enough to actually click on them and buy what they're selling, that makes you a moron IMO. :)

Most likely, the person responsible for the emails isn't the person selling the Viagra. The sender of the emails gets money for anyone who CLICKS on the links in the email. The email recipient doesn't even have to buy anything.

All of the strange spelling and the phrases at the bottom of the email are intended to get around SPAM filters on your PC and at the ISP.

Thank you for the information.

This reminds me of telemarketers wanting to get around the do not call list. My contention is that people who want to be on that list are not people who will buy over the phone, so why waste company time calling them ? The do not call list saves time for both the telemarketers and the consumers and is a great idea.

I don't see spam filter users being that different from the do not call list folks. People who install spam guards are just going to delete any spam that makes it through, so why try to reach them ? How much does it cost to send out millions of spam emails ? Obviously not enough unfortunately.

Only a dozen a day.
Man do you get off light. My business e-mail address gets maybe 300 a day. A dozen a day is nothing to complain about!
