Questions regarding Epox 8K7A

Ok, Im thinking about buying this board, but I have a few questions.

Can I use a 1.2 Ghz TBird on it ??
I was reading Epox's webpage and was looking at their recommended CPU chart. For the 8K7A, the 1.2 Ghz is not checked. The 1.1 and 1.3 are, but why not the 1.2 ??? Heres the PDF if youre interested, but you need Acrobat. Here

Another question, since the 8K7A is based on the AMD761 chipset, do I need to install drivers similar to the Via 4in1's ?? If so, where do I find them ?? I will be running Win2k.

Thanx

Yes you can run a 1.2 on it fine.
The drivers I use is the amd miniport (agp)driver.
The 4 in1 's cept the agp driver and thats all. This is in win2k. 🙂
Hope this helps. 🙂

1.33Ghz here. It's probably the best mobo I have owned. Of course I said that about my A7V, but the AMD mobo's just keep getting better.

I'm runnin the 1.2 GHz (266Mhz FSB) on it right now and it runs great. In fact it has multipliers high enough to go to 1.6 GHz, so it has room to grow and with the right BIOS it will probably even take the Palominos eventually... Any way, some of the four in one drivers are good to use because it does have the VIA southbridge.

<< Thanx, now my biggest fear lies in attaching the HS !!! 😀 >>

It's not as bad as people make it out to be. Just take your time and be careful and you'll do fine.

Hehe, Im gonna try to not use a screwdriver.

Hopefully I can use my finger, or the eraser-end of a pencil.

Im buying all the Hardware tomorrow, I cant wait !!

If you're worried about installing the HS with a screwdriver, why not pick up a Vantec from NerdsByte($19.98 shipped)? They supposedly have the best clips that don't require any tools. That's what I'm doin. 🙂
