I'm thinking of rebuilding my HTPC using a spare Sempron CPU and one of the Biostar socket 754 boards using the Geforce6100 chipset. I'll likely be using a passively cooled Geforce 6600GT and neither CPU nor GPU will be overclocked because I intend to run quiet and stock speeds will suit my purposes. I have a few questions from anyone here who have used these boards.
Question 1: The boards have 24 pin ATX power connectors. I'm hoping to use my trusty old Antec TruePower. Can these boards run stable on 20 pin if the PSU is good quality and has plenty of amps?
Question 2: I've heard that the extra 4 pins are to feed the PCIe video card. The 6600GT does not take an external power plug so it draws all power from the motherboard. In such a situation will the system still likely run fine on 20 pins powering stock speed Sempron 2600+ and 6600GT?
Question 3: Is the onboard sound relatively clear? Taking CPU cycles is fine, but I need it to sound clear since I'll be going into my stereo system, which amplifies any hissing or crackling.
Question 4: Does the BIOS allow undervolting of Palermo Semprons?
TIA.
