Questions regarding BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra

Hi.

I'm considering a brand new BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra 256 MB. That'd be my first nVidia GPU since my old (and very first nVidia product ever) XFX MX-440 SE PCI back three years ago.

The price is $375 U.S.D (or around $470 Canadian). That's on eBay.

Do you guys think it's a good deal ? Worth the price ?

I don't know if the deal includes everything necessary to plug it (extra power cables and such) or if it's just the GPU itself.

However, I still consider buying it, since I know a good local store where I could buy such missing wires / cables.

So, this brings me to my second question...

Will my Antec 450 Watts PSU be enough to power the GPU (let's presume I do buy it) ?

That's considering it's already powering the following components: Two media drives (DVD-RW and CD-RW) and two Hard-Disk Drives. Plus of course the basic stuff, such as the Motherboard itself, one extra tower fan, my humble Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Sound Card, and well, the CPU fan (reference AMD fan).

I would appreciate some help and opinions.

Thank you for your time.

I'm running a 6800 Ultra 400/1100 off an Antec 350watt Smart Blue PSU, I can clock it 425/1200 with no issues either. I have an Barton mobile 2500+@2.4gig.

I briefly tried an Antec 480 TrueBlue to see if I could get anymore out of CPU and Video card, but it did not make any diference so I dropped back to te 350watt PSU. I doubt you will have any problem.

The 450W Antec is more than enough for a 6800 Ultra. I'm running a 6800GT overclocked past Ultra speeds on a 380W Antec, I'd say an Ultra is fine on a 450W. I've got three hard drives, two opticals, Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2.5GHz, and an Audigy2 ZS.

If it's brand new, then it should include all accessories, right? Otherwise, you can get a sealed, retail 6800U (with all the accessories and maybe a game or two) for not much more from NewEgg or the like.

Your PSU should be able to handle the card.

yes it woould. but be very careful getting it off ebay, make sure the card works and he didn't screw it up so he could sell it and get a new one. but thats an awesome deal.

i've got a 6800 Ultra...maybe I'm responding late to this one, but I'd be careful as well....not with who you buy from though.

My 6800 U required some modifications before it was usable....

To start off, one thing that cannot be fixed: the onboard Video Processor for deinterlacing DVDs and such is not working (botched up hardware issue)

The other problems:

No darn good in 3d games....I had to OC the 2d clock (400 MHz) to be equal with the 3d clock (425) and make the voltages of the two modes equal. This is becuase when it jumped from 2d to 3d it'd try to shift speeds and lock, go into a sound loop, then come back to life. It'd do this every so often, made games unplayable.

GET IT...thats a great deal for the Ultra...your 450W should be enough...my Ultra runs on my 420W PSU
