Questions regarding a "Technical Consulting Firm" & what it likes to work for one

I have a job interview with a Technical Consulting company (QueueSystems) for a position of a "Technical Consultant" for the summer. It's pretty much IT-tech work (ie: setting up software, PCs, etc..). However, this company hires me, but sends me out to their clients for work, and most of it is after hours they said.

Are these types of companies a good place to have summer work? I'm hoping they arent like job agencies where they make you run around with your own car and give you odd timings and not pay you for overtime.

So I'm pretty much asking for feedback from epople who have worked at these kinds of companies.

How old are you, and what are your goals in life? (In college, looking for a career in IT, etc) A lot ff what you're asking for is based on what the company will tell you - OT, mileage paid on vehicle/provide a vehicle. It all depends on the contract/terms they specify. You will work some odd hours depending on what type of support you provide - the more technical, the worse it is.

I don't plan on doing IT work once I graduate, but this is just for the summer. My main concern is that the company (these consulting firms) will be a nice place to work with.

Because I was thinking of having a second part-time job in retail, and it might not be possible if I have this one. Or I might be able to get a volunteer research position with a prof, which would be really nice as the experience is more worth it compared to the money.

So I was just looking at my options to figure out what I wanted to do...

Working for the company at a client site is equivalent to working for the client.

Client signs your timesheet, you send it to the company and they provide you with a check. Usually no benefits but a slightly higher salary (depending on situation).

When client no longer needs you, the company may be able to locate additional work for you. Else, unemployed
