I've got a ASUS P3B-F revision 1.03 w/ the 1007 Beta 001 BIOS. I want to get the P3 1GHz Slot1 100FSB, it being the fastest of the 100FSB chips. (I've tried to find the P3 1.1GHz FC-PGA 100FSB CPU so I could put it into a Slot1 adapter, but I don't think Intel ever released it to retail. If somebody knows where to get one please let me know!) However, the 1GHz Slot1 100FSB is described as only having been validated for Intel server boards and may not work in other boards. Has anybody got one of these CPUs running with no problem? Thanks!

The 100MHz FSB Pentium III 1GHz runs perfectly fine on the ASUS P3B-F with no problems.

You have a PCB rev 1.03 board, so there is no voltage issue with Coppermines.

Simply make sure that you have the latest BIOS, Version 1008 Beta 002.

MutoidMan, Where have you seen the P3 1GHz Slot1 100fsb retail version at the lowest price? I can't believe it's still over $200 everywhere I look. I'd like to get one but Intel just doesn't seem to give low prices like AMD.

The lowest I see the P3 1GHz Slot1 100fsb retail version is at htttp://www.googlegear.com for about $209+$10 shipping. Have you seen it lower than that?

Cnet is where I find most of my prices. I like it better than Price Watch. Here is what I found today at Cnet. Anyway, you are right, Googlegear is the place with the lowest price AND a return policy. I'm going to order from them today. Yeah it's not as cheap as an Athlon. But, I've gotten nothing but rock-solid performance from P3s, I'm very happy with my current setup, and I want to keep it for as long as possible. I figure I'll be good to go for at least another two years, or when the time comes when my PC only just meets the minimum specs for a given game. Then I'll get the latest P4 or a P5 or whatever.
