This anand tech article http://www.anandtech.com/guides/showdoc.html?i=1440&p=1 implies that setting the L6 bridges is a way of forcing a lower clock multiplier than is set on the L3/4 bridges, so that you can increase the fsb of your processor. So if you have 1G Athlon with 100M FSB, ie mult of 10, you can change the mult used by the motherboard to say 7.5 using the L6 bridges, so then you can use a 133M FSB.
When I try setting the L6's to a lower value, my board doesn't even post. Does the article only apply to KT133A motherboards ?, or does the fact that the L6 bridges do not match the L3/4 bridges not work with some boards ?
Cheers

If you plan on only having the multipliers adjustable via the CPU alone, then you would also have to modify the L3/L4 bridges.

depends on the board you use... some boards(i know the epox 8kta3 is one) will not post if the L6 bridges dont match the L4 and L3
meaning if you want to change the default multiplier on the chip you need to change L6, L4 and L3

other boards you can just change L6

since yours wont post i imagine it falls in the first group :) what board do you use? are multipliers adjusted in bios or with jumpers... also is the fsb adjusted in bios or jumpers? and do you have a jumper to switch from 133mhz to 100mhz

if you want to PM me maybe we can get your board working, there are a couple other ways around "the issue"
