i recently built my comp, and im curious about a few things.

present setup:

my motherboard: MB LEADTEK K7NCR18G-PRO AMD
my cpu : CPU AMD|2000+/266 T-BRED ATHLN XP
my ram: DDRAM 256MB|32X64 PC-2100C2.5 CRL% (3 sticks)
my bios: phoenix awardbios
bios settings: FSB Freq 100mhz (option to go to 133, 166)
cpu ratio = default
cpu vcore 1.63v
agp slot Vddq = 1.47v

now ive read the cpu should be at 1.67GHZ, but various benchmarks read it at 1.25GHZ, why would my cpu only be running at 1.25ghz?

i'd like some info on how to make things faster. if i change the fsb to anything other than 100mhz the computer will not restart, i end up having to remove the battery for the bios on the mb and re-inserting it, to get the system to boot. what am i doing wrong? there are various settings in the bios that may as well be left handed braille to me, there is a section specifically named "overclocking", enables me to change the cpu ratio, cpu core voltage etc, but i wont mess with it until i atleast half understand what im doing.

any help sure owuld be appreciated.

Pull all the ram out except for 1 stick. You should be able to run that chip at default instead of the 100fsb. Default being 133fsb. Also, check the bios settings for the memory ratio if available.

well thankyou! i removed 2 sticks, went back and set it to 133, booted up jsut fine. shut it down again, put the additional ram back in, booted up, everything is fine and the cpu is now at 1.67ghz.

thanks again for hte tip.
