Questions on Optical Drives

I was wondering where I might find some reviews about optical drives whether they be cd/dvd rom or cd/dvd combo drives. Also some of you guys fav picks would be nice so I can get an idea as to what to get.

And also, what would be better (performance wise) to get one of those all in one super d duper CD/DVD Read Write combos that combine all the functions or would it be best to split them into CDRW and DVD+/-RWs? I have heard some people say that for the best performance get a CD ROM and DVD ROM just for reading and for Burning get also get Separate CDRWs and DVDRWs... Is this true?

**BTW, if at all possible, round-up reviews would be best so I can compare models.

I have the NEC 3520A, it is a DVD RW and CD-RW, it writes DVD-R, DVD+R, CD-RW, CD-R, etc.
