Questions on LCD!

I am thinking of buying one soon but i an quite worried that it wont be good on games.

from THG:
The response time for current models is certainly not ideal for users who mainly play on their PC, whereby video playback, DVD's and presentations are handled well enough by today's TFT devices.

What do people who have LCD's think? what response times are good?
Anyother information are welcome. I am thinking of a 17" Thankz

For serious gamers, I wouldn't recommend using LCD's. I have one myself, and I notice that it does not perform as well as a CRT. Also, (remember, I have a low end 15" LCD) my monitor has a max refresh rate of 75 Hz. For a serious gamer, this might be too low. You should also note that no matter what quality LCD you purchase, you're going to get at least some noticable ghosting of images on high speed action scenes. Go for a big CRT instead of an LCD unless you have desk space issues, like I do.

Planar

I also recommend Planar. I have a 17.4" LCD that I use for gaming and I love it. I play Return To Castle Wolfenstein mainly.

zugzwang, what model 15" do you have? what is its rated pixel response time? That is a more relevant spec for the ghosting issue. I am yet another who is tempted by the lower costs, but needs the ghost free FPS environment. I have gamed on my gforce laptop so i know first hand the frustrations of playing on a LCD that ghosts.

dreday....is that the PV174 model you have with the 25 ms response time? And please characterize the gameplay with RtCW. I am concerned about FPS performance on even the best of todays LCD units. I read the Feed Fwd technology article that is referenced in several other threads above several months back and have heard nothing more about it so am starting to doubt the Q1/02 delivery of this. I would really like to get a desktop LCD but will regret the purchase if i can't spot the zombies coming at me.

I have a relatively old 15-inch LCD, I love it even for games (counterstrike, mostly). Its got a couple of dead pixels though :|

PLanar eh? unfortunatly i cant get that brand in Australia. Anyother ones? is samsung or IBM good? I am also thnking about buying one from taiwan to bring to australia. But, warrenty is a major problem for me. Do theese things break easily? i know my laptop hasent had a glitch yet for 3 years.
