Questions on general dual core stability

I'm looking to upgrade to an AMD dual core processor (the X2 family looks interesting), but I occasionally see comments about problems that crop up due to dual core processors. What kind of stability do people here with dual core processors see? Are crashes / lockups / hangs a frequent problem? Rare? Non-existent?

I have 3 dual cores, and have had none of those problems(asides from the 805 being a flamethrower when overclocked). Just be sure to install the X2 driver.

X2's have been shown to be very reliable. They have exhibited excellent attributes and paired with premium mobos are very popular with AT gamers.
AT gamers have shown a definite preference for AMD X2s. The only problems that I have seen has to do with their power supplies.

Those using cheaper or off brands PSUs have had the most maladies. Some overheating problems, some mismatched RAM on certain mobos, minor problems.

No direct problem associated with a X2 CPU in my readings since last year. In fact, resales of used X2s have been excellent here on AT, with no detractions.

Even though the X2 4800+ is very strong for gaming, there is a problem for some games in the multiprocessor environment. Downloading the AMD Athlon 64 Processor Driver for their appropriate version of Windows is recommended. This can help prevent stuttering or crashing in many of today's games that have yet to be developed around dual core processors.

That's probably what you heard about.
