questions on DDR setup

ALi® M1647 chipset or AMD® 761TM chipset wich one is better ?

both ASUS boards A7M or an A7A, or what would you suggest I get.

I am going to put a 1.4 in it, 32 meg gladiac gts, soundblaster live, 256 megs DDR, and a fasttrack 100 raid card

Go with the A7M266.

Performance on the A7A266, while decent, simply is not competitive against the AMD chipset based A7M266.

Forget ALi MAGiK, it performs very poorly. A7M is a good board, but it is more expensive then other 760 boards. If you are gonna OC, then EPoX 8K7A+ is for you (If you can't get it right now, EPoX 8KHA (VIA KT266) is a good alternative), but if not, then MSI K7 Master is a better option. Oh and EPoX 8K7A+ has on-board RAID, even though it's Highpoint not Promise.

Then again, you could go look for the new ASUS A7V266, based on the VIA KT266 chipset.

Yes, but it's not out in the US yet, plus it hasn't proven itself yet.

DDR chipset solutions currently available in order of performance:
AMD 760
VIA KT266
ALi M1647
The SiS 735 is just making an appearance now and s/b the best of the bunch performance wise, and nForce will be out within the next few months and it s/b the best around at that point. At this time I would suggest an AMD 760 based board.
