Questions on cleaning sensor

What methods and materials are you guys using to clean the sensor on your DSLR?

I was going to go with this: Copper Hill , but just wanted to see if there isn't something newer or better that I wasn't aware of in the same price range....

Eclipse and Pek Pads are the defacto standard. But don't clean the sensor unless you absolutely need to and there's dust everywhere. If you can just blow it clean, then do so. I've had times where a stubborn little piece of dust wouldn't be blown off so I took the tip of a new lens cleaning paper and dislodged it off the sensor.

I have had my sensor cleaned twice. Not the same camera, (I'm on my 4th DSLR since 199-something.)

Anyway, I usually use a rubber ear syringe to gently blow off dust. But - when it won't blow off, I have it cleaned professionally at a local camera shop. They do it there for $30. Well worth it.

Where you get dust most often is changing lenses hastily outside. I always try to keep the camera body aimed down when doing that to minimize falling dust.

Some of the new sensors have a dust shedding vibration that helps, but is not foolproof.

It is interesting that my sensor cleaner is a licensed Nikon servicer - but he does Canons as well. 🙂
