questions on asus p5wd2 and premium

I am going to upgrade my non gaming but i do use it sometimes for gaming comp, and i was thinking about the asus p5wd2 or premium for a number of reasons:
-ddr2 800
-pentium based (to keep the balance)
-2 pci-e full lanes
-1066 fsb
-i really like asus products

Is this going to be a good mobo for using on mainly work type stuff (doing all email browsing etc with some programming, web editing and gaming) in conjunction with:
pentium d 840 ee 3.2 dual core
2 gb corsair xms ddr2 800 with activity leds
either 7800gt or 7800 gtx
2x wd2500ks 250gb sata ii in raid-0
17 in 1280 by 1024 lcd and 120 or so in 16x9 1280-720 projector

Also, i have a question about the two pci-e slots. the pics on newegg show that they include the link btw nvidia grafx card thing just like on the asus sli premium board that i have. Would i be able to bridge two grafx cards together in a sli setup, would i have to do some modding to do that, or would i run two gfx cards separately no sli?

Thanks,
