Questions for you gamers...

Is there anyone that actually buys the new Intel/AMD chips as soon as they come out? Who pays almost 800 dollars for a CPU? That is like the bad old days when I first started building systems.

Same thing for the newest and "best" graphics cards? Has anyone here bought one when they are still well north of 300-400 dollars?

A true gamer may not always buy the latest cpu, but will always keep a very up to date video card. I have an 8500 and am about to upgrade to something faster. I am running an 1800+, so I'll up that too probably.

i buy the latest when i can afford it. In 3 years i wil buy an uber-rig, for that is when i will be in the workforce.

I'm running an AIW Radeon back when they first came out. Paid $250 for it. I'm gonna upgrade to an AIW Radeon 9700Pro when the price drops below $400.

I only care about having a machine that will run the games I want to play well. It doesn't always have to be the best hardware money can buy. I have a friend that just bought a 9700 pro and the game he plays the most is starcraft.

I have a hard time justifying the newest and most expensive CPU when one just a little bit slower is a lot less money, and can usually be overclocked to be as fast. Graphics cards are another matter, although I usually wait a long time to upgrade, once games require a new card I get another one.
