Questions for voltages for Intel 32nm stuff.

Hello. I've been wondering about the comparison between Sandy Bridge and the older generation of i-# processors. I've looked at a lot of the older generation processors and they all have "VID ranges" that go all the way up to 1.4V on Intel's website. Normally, the voltages on AMD/Intel's website seem to be conservative, or people will go past them, so why is it that Sandy Bridge safe voltages are said to be 1.35 - 1.38V?

its not safe, if were looking at VID as Vcore.

Out of curiousity, do you have LLC (load-line) on or off?

AFAIK "VID range" is just the available voltages that is part of the socket specification. Actual processors only use a partial subset of the VID range.

Anyone here remember those guys posting here around 3 years ago that clocked the crap out of a Core 2 Extreme until it died? IIRC those guys felt that the conventional wisdom of VCORE limits were bunk. Their result was a dead $1000 CPU and much gnashing of teeth.

On. I am using Offset + .35
