Questions for Verizon Wireless users

I am looking at switching to Verizon from Sprint PCS. I think I am going to hold off on the PTT feature as it is currently $25 more than the plan I want. My questions for you are:

What time do the night and weekend minutes start?

Have you had any problems with there service, if so what?

Anyone in Northern Indiana (Fort Wayne-Ligonier) have this service and like it?

My PCS drops a lot of calls, I am hoping that the $5 more a month I will spend with Verizon will be worth it.

1. nights start at 9pm, weekends start friday at 9pm
2. never had a problem with service but with my model of phone, about ever 6 months itjust dies on me.. kyocera 2235
3. im either in philadelphia or rochester, and service is always good

I think for Verizon night minutes start at 9pm local time and go till like 5am or something. Weekend starts at 12:01am on the weekends I believe. I live in CA so I can't really comment on Verizon's national coverage but here it has been pretty good. A lot better than AT&T and T-Mobile. Several times my friends have had to borrow my phone because T-Mobile (Cingular) didn't have service.

Verizon's great. I've gotten service everywhere I've went, even the middle-of-nowhere places. Probably dropped 1-2 calls in 1.5 years.

Recently switched from Sprint to Verizon - finally, I can use a cellphone again :| I was a Sprint customer for 3 years. The most important thing for cellphones is coverage, IMHO - everything else is just preference.

Verizon has been fine for me (Central Ohio). Rarely any dropped calls, and the people can always "Hear me now" 😀

Verizon is terrific... aside from the customer support people who can't speak English, that is. The actual service is great. No dropped calls, great clarity, good plans, I love my phone. (v60i)

9pm-5:59 AM is nights, and it's 12:00 friday night til 11:59 Sunday night.

I live in Central PA, FWIW.

The Kyocera is a POS. I had 4 2235's and now just got an LG VX6000. Verizon is a great provider, but just get the right phone.

I switched from Sprint to Verizon early this summer. All service related aspects have been perfect. Even their high-speed wireless web works great! I have never dropped a call or a data call. Never opened my phone and found no service. My wife still has a PCS phone and is out of service 10% of the time, and 100% of that time I still have service. I'm not switching her phone because they are giving me free usage since I threatened to drop. Well not fully free but cheap.

The service is good, but I worry about it becoming over-subscribed in major metros.

Once in awhile, there are network problems, but very few compared to Sprint when I used them.

It?s not magical or anything, so it won?t work in places where you can?t reasonably expect service, like the U6 level of an underground garage, but it?s pretty good.

Customer service hours are from 6 AM to 11 PM, with tech support available 24 hours a day. You will be amazed that the customer service reps are actually there to answer questions, and their goal is obviously zero hold time when you call in. Sprint's blatant policy is to NOT help the customer if they can avoid it, and to make it as difficult and time-consuming as possible to talk to a live person, so that you're "encouraged" to go to the web sit. (Sorry Sprint, that doesn't do it for me.)

Don?t sign the two year contract. They will not allow you to upgrade your phone at the promo price until you?re two months away from the end of your contract. Ask them to waive the activation fee for the one year contract. They will charge a little more for the phone, but it?s worth it in order to be able to upgrade your phone sooner.
