Funny you ask, I am installing it on one of our laptops now...

Gosh this install takes.... f o r e v e r.......................

installed it in about 6 machines already no problem here yet, and ohh i turned off that damn windows auto update crap, i wish there was a way to not install that with sp3.

but so far so good, no really noticeable difference from sp2.

I installed SP3 on 3 systems, two which worked fine. The third however resulted in a lock at startup everytime(after the blue bar loaded). I was able to get into safe mode and unistall on that system, so it looks like it's back to sp2 for a bit on that one.

I'm running SP3 on my laptop, Lan/entertainment rig, file server, and family computer with no ill effects, they are just as stable as before.

My friend installed SP3 on to his newly built computer and had sound issues (however, I think the fact that he installed Via's 4-in-1 drivers into his system on a non-Via board might have something to do with it 😛)

The same guy introduced me into computers and now I know so much more than him 😉

The only issue I had with SP3 (which might be an isolated case) is when I reformatted my entertainment rig and freshly installed win2k... I installed SP3 first and the computer wouldn't boot any more. It couldn't find the DTLR file (something to that effect, boot loading file). However, after I reformatted it again I updated IE to 5.5 and then installed SP3 and all was well.

Also, the install doesn't take too long if you have the actual SP3 installer instead of downloading it each time you update. (so that means it's just a one time download and you can use it whenever you want to, it's around 124MB for the entire thing if I remember correctly)

Hey there FrankBlack, have you considered putting your army of computers into use for distrubuted computing (if you haven't done so already)? I thought I had a lot of computers... but man, nice fleet! 🙂

Installed it on 7 Win2K Workstations and 1 Win2K Server. All went well except for one machine. It caused Disk Paging and Timeout Errors. I *THINK* there is a compat. issue with SP3 and the Maxtor/Promise ATA-133 controller card. I haven't determined if it's driver and/or BIOS issue yet. Went back to SP2 and all is well again.

My Brother MFC-4600 printer/fax device stopped working after I installed SP3, so I had to uninstall it.

I have some problems, when I installed sp3.
Mail-washer doesn't automatically check my e-mails, I have to press F5 to get it to work.
When I just surf on to the net, sometimes I get a message that I'm not connected anymore and asking me if I want to stay offline or retry again but at the same it's asking this, I'm downloading a file from a FTP-server.

These are the only things I've noticed, for the rest, it runs fine.

Seems to be fine on my PC's.

Hey does anyone have a direct link to the full downloadable installer for Service Pack 2?
