i got a a7v mobo that i tried to flash it from 1009 to 1007
then when i tried to reboot it froze, and now whenever i tried to boot up, it has no response with the monitor, mouse, keyboard

good thing i have another system and also uses the asus chip, but it is older, model is P2L97

but both bios chip has the award sticker on it

does this mean i can hotswap it

and will it damage my working bios chip?

one thing you could try, but may not work....

get a boot disc with the a7v bios files on it, and use it to boot up your P2L97 then pull out the bios chip from the P2L97 and insert the a7v bios chip, then attempt to flash it with your a7v bios files

if it works you could then put your a7v bios chip (newly flashed) back in the a7v board

*** edit ***
but dont put the working P2L97 bios chip in the a7v board (that wont work)

*** edit *** another edit :)
another thing, if you try the above make sure you use the a7v bios file, but... use the P2L97 flash utility

What Boonesmi suggests will likely work, I've done similar when the occasion demanded it. Superglue some tiny blocks of wood to the chips as handles, makes them easier to deal with. Be sure to get the orientation right.... and that the chips are identical, not just that they both have award labels.

I wouldn't worry about which flash utility to use- generally speaking, they're backward compatible. If it doesn't work the first time, then try the older flash utility.

Always unplug the computer and clear the cmos after flashing. If nothing works, contact Badflash.com, nice people.
