Questions about X2 4400+

I'd like to know if there is differences between the known different 4400+ Steppings / Revisions ?

I'm asking because I've recently read a thread where somebody says he received a "Good Stepping" Opteron 165, and because of that version specifically he'll be able to over-clock it further than other Steppings.

I'm not sure if that applies to the 4400+ as well ?

CPU-z 1.32 reports my 4400+'s Stepping at 2, and the Revision at JH-E6. Are those 4400+ stats known for anything in particular ? Or is there absolutely no differences between "older" and "newer" 4400+'s ?

Thanks for your time.

I would like to know as well, as my 4400+ should be here soon and I want to know how good it is 🙂

Why don't you OC yours to see how it fairs?

I did for a few days mate.

But I got it barely a week ago, paid $680 (Canadian) for it, and that price exceeded my budget by $80 or so. With this in mind I simply fear to make some stupid over-clocking mistakes and feed the beast with too much voltages (again, by mistake it can always happen even if you know it isn't good, and if you even know what you're doing) and annihilate it forever.

I'll wait some time. Perhaps a whole year, or a bit less, before over-clocking it.

And I doubt I'd get any significant/noticeable in-game performance gains by getting it at, say ... 2.5Ghz or 2.6Ghz. Maybe what, 5 to 10 frames-per-second, in some games, in some situations.

And OC'ing just for the Benchmarking thrills ? Nah ...

I'm curious enough, however, to know if my Stepping/Revision means anything in particular, so that I will know, for a possible future over-clock, if I have any advantages over other such stats for 4400+'s.

I have the same stepping as you, and I have it 2.55ghz right now, at 1.4v (mobo limited vcore). I forgot to look at the exact details on the chip before I put on the heatsink, so I don't have more specific info.

As to your original question:
A lot of people believe that certain weeks (production weeks) and steppings and revisions oc better than others. This may or not be true.
