Ok I have a dvi/hdmi adapter that came with my HD3850.

I'll be getting this, http://www.monoprice.com/produ...id=2841&seq=1&format=2

So I connect the adapter to my HD3850, then plug a HDMI cable from the adapter to my tv. Now will that give me sound? I know I'll get video but I'm not sure how sound would come from that.

If not then I'm guessing I can buy a 25 feet audio composite cables and connect them from the back of my tv to a stereo I have.

I wanted to get this, http://www.monoprice.com/produ...eq=1&format=4#feedback
but it seems to be out of stock.

and this cable is getting bad reviews

Anyone know of any good audio cables?

I am fairly certain the HD 3850 has an on board sound card, which can pass audio (the 2600XT does and I think all HD radeons do as well)

This on board sound is 2.0 by default however, but it can pass up to uncompressed 7.1 through it, however the original source needs to be pre-encoded. So basically anything being generated or played from a 2 channel source will be 2.0, however anything like a DVD/blu-Ray with surround encoded can be passed as surround.

you just need to make the audio output on the 3850 the default audio source instead of your motherboards sound.

First off, goto ATI's website and download the latest drivers. Also look in your hardware manager to make sure that the Radeon shows up as a sound device and not an unknown device.

Once it is, make sure you click display disabled devices in your sound manager, because it might be disabled by default. Once its enabled it needs to be the primary audio source, not the realtek one. Also make sure you use the included dongle that came with the video card and an HDMI cable. I think a normal HDMI-> DVI cable might not work.
